World Triathlon Series champion Jonny Brownlee has pulled out of today's race in Kitzbuehel with a stomach bug.
The 23-year-old, who missed the first two events of the season through injury, became unwell on Friday, BBC Sport reports.
Brownlee was targeting his third successive Series win following back-to-back triumphs in Madrid and Yokohama.
He would have been up against his brother and Olympic gold medallist Alistair for the first time this year, but decided to withdraw due to the strenuous nature of the event.
The race comprises a 750m swim in Schwarzsee lake, an 11.55km cycle ride over steep terrain, and an uphill run.
