Mo Farah and Jessica Ennis have been crowned athletes of the year by the British Athletics Writers' Association.
Farah has claimed the men's award for the second consecutive year, the third time in total, while Ennis pipped Hannah England to the honour by just two votes.
"I would like to thank all the writers who followed my journey," said Farah.
Meanwhile, Ennis similarly praised the athletics writers for keeping the wider public informed.
"The heptathlon is not the easiest discipline to follow and the athletics writers really help the public follow my progress," she said.
Both athletes are expected to be amongst the medals at next year's London Olympics.
