Former Team GB hockey captain Ben Hawes has been named as the new chair of the BOA's Athletes' Commission.
Hawes, who represented Great Britain in three Olympic Games between 2004 and 2012, will replace Sarah Winckless at the start of 2015.
The 34-year-old said: "Competing for Team GB across three Games were the highlights of my sporting career, and continuing to be a part of this by chairing the Athletes' Commission is a fantastic opportunity.
"It's a great time to be part of the Team GB, following the success of Sochi and now the build up to the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, and I can't wait to get started and offer support to all those involved."
Hawes retired from hockey last year with 99 Team GB and 128 England caps to his name.
