Great Britain's Shelly Woods has safely secured a place in the women's T54 1,500m final after winning her heat.
The Brit, who won silver at the Beijing Games in 2008, started off at the back of the pack and was able to tuck herself into the inside lane in order to pace herself for the remaining laps.
Christie Dawes of Australia took the lead in the early stages but it was United States duo Shirley Reilly and Amanda McGrory who stormed to the lead until the second lap, where Woods began to pile the pressure on the pair.
The Brit slowly edged towards the front of the race on the final lap and managed to keep up her speed to cross the finish line in a time of 3:42.12.
Meanwhile, Woods's compatriot Jade Jones also managed to qualify for tonight's final as one of the four fastest losers.
