Katarina Johnson-Thompson wins record-breaking European Indoor pentathlon gold

Katarina Johnson-Thompson sets a new British record to win gold at the pentathlon event in the European Indoor Championships in Prague.

Great Britain's Katarina Johnson-Thompson has set a new British record on her way to winning gold in the pentathlon event at the European Indoor Championships in Prague.

The 22-year-old secured a personal best of 8.18 seconds in the 60m hurdles before clearing 1.95m in the high jump to snatch a 2,259 lead on points.

After winning the long jump with 6.89m, the Liverpool-born athlete set a new British record by finishing the 800m in 2:12.27 to seal gold with a points total of 5,000.

Jessica Ennis-Hill previously held the British record of 4,965 points.
