The Brooklyn Nets have reportedly agreed to sign Jason Collins for the rest of the 2013-14 NBA season.
The center is currently on his second 10-day contract with the team, but ESPN says that the team will offer him a deal until the end of the campaign on Saturday, after his current contract expires.
The 34-year-old, who is the first openly-gay athlete to play in one of North America's four major sporting leagues, has made eight appearances off the bench since joining the team last month.
The Nets face the Miami Heat this evening.
