Houston Rockets center Dwight Howard has a build-up of fluid in his right knee, an MRI scan has revealed.

Howard will be evaluated further in the coming days and will receive a second opinion on his knee before ruling himself out of action.

The Rockets star, who has a history of knee issues, could miss an extended period of time with the latest problem, according to ESPN.

The 10-year NBA veteran has averaged 16.3 points and 11.0 rebounds per game this season but he has also missed 14 games overall.

Howard missed 11 games during December with a strained right knee, and it appears as though it will continue to be problematic through the rest of the regular season.
