Carmelo Anthony's old college coach Jim Boeheim has questioned the player's decision to re-sign with the New York Knicks, instead suggesting that he should have joined the Chicago Bulls.
Boeheim coached Melo for college side Syracuse and has admitted that the player should have moved on from New York, but has also praised his tenacity to fight for the team's plight next season.
"Just from a basketball point of view it would have been better to go to Chicago because they've got better players," said Boeheim, according to ESPN.
"But he wanted to be in New York and he wants to see if they can turn it around there. I think that's a great thing."
Anthony will turn out for the Knicks again when the new NBA season gets underway on October 28.
