The Oklahoma Thunder have chosen to release DeAndre Liggins following his arrest for domestic battery last week.
Liggins was accused of assaulting his girlfriend in front of their two-year-old son and has since been charged with seven felonies, which include domestic abuse, domestic battery with a dangerous weapon, kidnapping and violating a protective order.
The 25-year-old had a non-guaranteed contract with the Thunder for the upcoming season which meant that Thunder general manager Sam Presti was able to end the franchise's link with Liggins.
Chicago-born Liggins' attorney, Billy Bock, recently claimed that his client "certainly denies ever laying a hand on a female" shortly before he was released on bail.
