Portland Trail Blazers beat San Antonio Spurs to avoid elimination

Damian Lillard scores 25 points to help his side avoid elimination in a 103-92 victory for the Portland Trail Blazers against the San Antonio Spurs.

The Portland Trail Blazers recorded a 103-92 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Monday night to avoid elimination from the NBA playoffs.

Heading into the match trailing 3-0 in the series, Damian Lillard scored 25 points to keep Portland's hopes alive against the Western Conference's number one seeds.

The game started with two tight opening quarters, with Portland benefiting from a strong display in the second period on their way to a 50-48 lead at the half-time interval.

Portland took control of the contest in the third quarter as Lillard and Nicolas Batum, who recorded 14 points and 14 rebounds, both found their range from beyond the arc.

It was a strong display from the Blazers after the break as they outscored San Antonio 35-20 to edge a step closer to the win.

Spurs managed to hit back in the final 12 minutes of the game, but Portland held off their challenge by restricting Tony Parker's influence at the crucial stage.

The Blazers completed their first win in the second round of the playoffs since 2000, and will look to close the gap to 3-2 in game five on Wednesday night.
