Team England boxer Anthony Fowler branded his victory over Scotland's Kieran Smith as 'one of the best nights of his life'.
The middleweight overcame Smith on points to book a spot in the quarter-finals of the Commonwealth Games.
"It was a great fight. I was expecting to chase him round the ring, but he came to me. Obviously his coach had got him fired up, but that played into my hands," he told reporters.
"I am a lot stronger and a lot more experienced. I picked my shots and he took some big ones.
"That is one of the best nights of my life and with a gold medal I'll be the happiest man in here."
Fowler will face Nickson Otieno Abaka in the last eight on Wednesday.
