Italy's Vincenzo Mangiacapre has overcome tough Hungarian Gyula Kate to prevail in the Olympic light welterweight tournament.
Mangiacapre assumed control of the contest by displaying some devastating speed and power to force a count with a thunderous left hook.
Kate tried to force the issue in the second round, but the Italian was not troubled as he used some quick footwork and sharp movement from the waist to slip most of his shots.
The Hungarian trailed by four points as they entered the final three minutes and surged forward as he fought to keep his Olympic dream alive.
However, Mangiacapre, who was perhaps guilty of taking his foot off the gas slightly, weathered the storm and went on to claim a 20-14 verdict.
