Ihab Almatbouli of Jordan has triumphed over Nigeria's Lukmon Lawal in the opening light-heavyweight bout of the Olympics.
The first round was a fairly cagey affair, which ended with Almatbouli coming out 5-3 on top.
The action was rather sloppy, with the Jordanian perhaps connecting with the cleaner shots to increase his lead to six points.
Lawal landed a nice left in the early exchanges in the third, but Almatbouli responded well and caught the Nigerian with a few crisp right hands.
A nice left hook from Almatbouli then forced the referee to give Lawal a standing count as his Olympic dream ebbed away.
In the end, the judges awarded Almatbouli a 19-7 victory.
