Former Norwich City striker Leon McKenzie made a winning start to his professional boxing career and later declared that he enjoyed it more than football.

The 35-year-old stopped John Mason in the second round in his first fight and admitted that he felt better in the ring than he did during his playing days.

"That's the best I've ever felt," McKenzie told Sky Sports News.

"Even in my playing days, it doesn't compare. When I was in there, I felt as though it was like: 'Yeah, this is my home.'"

McKenzie trained under Olympic gold medallist James DeGale in the run-up to the bout.

Prior to boxing, McKenzie's football career spanned from 1995-2013 and included stints with Fulham, Coventry City and Crystal Palace.
