British fighter Anthony Joshua has progressed into the final eight at the Olympics with a 17-16 victory over Erislandy Savon.
Joshua started the super-heavyweight bout well against his Cuban opponent and managed to take a tight opening round by a solitary point.
Savon refused to let his rival get away from him and managed to land a fierce punch in the second round that briefly rocked Joshua and worried the ExCel crowd.
However, Joshua was able to retain his slender lead throughout the final two rounds and despite losing the final period, he hung on for the triumph to move into the next round.
