Sean McGoldrick 'unsure' if he clashed heads with Michael Conlan

Wales boxer Sean McGoldrick was 'unsure' if he clashed heads with Michael Conlan in their Commonwealth Games semi-final on Friday.

Wales boxer Sean McGoldrick has admitted that he was 'unsure' if he clashed heads with Michael Conlan in their Commonwealth Games semi-final on Friday.

The referee stopped the bout in the second round following a clash between the pair, which left Conlan with a bloodied head.

However, McGoldrick 'could not say' whether it was his head that caught the Northern Irishman.

"I really couldn't tell you. You are always catching punches, catching elbows, catching shots. It is just part of boxing and it happens. I am really not sure what it was," he told reporters.

"It is not bad at 22 to have two Commonwealth Games medals, but I am not happy because I have technically lost to someone regardless of how it ended."

Conlan suffered a cut in his first bout of the competition this summer and faces a fight to pass a medical ahead of the final tomorrow against Qais Ashfaq.
