Australia win toss, choose to bat for Ashes finale

Australia win the toss and captain Michael Clarke opts to bat for the final Ashes Test against England at The Oval.

Australia captain Michael Clarke has won the toss and chosen to bat for the first innings of the fifth and final Ashes Test at The Oval.

The visitors have no chance of winning the Ashes or salvaging a draw in the series due to England's unassailable 3-0 lead following their fourth-Test victory in Durham.

Upon deciding to bat after winning the toss, Clarke said: "It looks pretty good. I think reverse swing and spin is going to play a part in this Test match, so runs in your first innings are crucial."

Meanwhile, England will field debutants Simon Kerrigan and Chris Woakes, while James Faulkner and Mitchell Starc come in for the Aussies.
