Ireland set Australia a victory target of 124 runs in their opening match of the T20 World Cup this afternoon.

The match got off to a poor start for the Irish, who lost captain William Porterfield to the first ball of the match, which was bowled by Shane Watson.

Skipper Watson went on to take three more of Ireland's wickets across the innings.

Ireland's best batsman was Kevin O'Brien, who made 35 runs of 29 balls before he was caught by Matthew Wade off the bowling of Watson.

Despite bowling economically throughout the majority of the innings, Watson went for 12 runs in the last over, including a wide delivery. As a result, it has given the Irish bowlers something to defend when the Aussies come out to bat.
