Joe Root has insisted that England's victory over Australia in the first Ashes Test should not come as a surprise.
The Three Lions earned a comfortable 169-run win in Cardiff on Saturday, casting the tourists to one side with a day to spare.
Root scored a vital 134 in the first innings before hitting a further 60 runs in the second. He also took two wickets during the match.
"We weren't surprised by [the win] at all," he told BBC Sport. "We know we're capable of beating Australia because we've got some talented players. We've got to keep taking all the confidence from the one-day series and this match.
"Australia are a very good side and they've proven that for a number of years. We've got to make sure we're right on the money when we go out there at Lord's."
The second Test starts on Thursday.
