England batsman Kevin Pietersen has revealed that his side wanted to entertain the crowd on the final day of the Ashes series.
A 3-0 series win was secured at The Oval on Sunday evening, although the Three Lions fell 21 runs short of victory as the umpires called time due to bad light.
Pietersen led the fight with a score of 62 at the weekend, and he admits that he wanted to amuse the audience.
"It was good, we had to give it a go today," Pietersen told Sky Sports News. "We wanted to entertain, we lost a day's cricket yesterday and that's the brand of cricket this team plays.
"I was in my own bubble, I was just trying to get through certain stages. I had flashbacks of 2005 but the way we played our cricket today it stands us in good stead for the winter.
"I love this ground it's the home of English cricket. Any time you win it's a great feeling."
The victory was Pietersen's fourth Ashes series win.
