Sam Billings hopes England can carry one-day momentum into Ashes series

Sam Billings is hopeful that England's one-day form will be mirrored by the Test team in this summer's Ashes series.

England batsman Sam Billings is hopeful that the positive performances from the one-day side will encourage the players in next month's Ashes series.

Eoin Morgan guided England to a 3-2 victory over New Zealand in their ODI contest.

In contrast, the nation endured a disastrous 5-0 defeat to Australia in the Ashes series Down Under last year, but Billings is hopeful that it will be a different story on home shores this summer.

"Hopefully the vibe can be taken forward into The Ashes and the one-day series," Billings told reporters. "It is a great start but only a start. Hopefully it has generated a bit of interest around the country and got people behind the England cricket team going into the Ashes, which can only be a good thing."

The first of the five-Test Ashes series begins on July 8.
