England batsman Gary Balance has insisted that spinner Simon Kerrigan is ready to return to Test cricket.
Kerrigan has not appeared for England since struggling on debut against Australia last August, but Balance believes that the 25-year-old will show that he is ready to deliver at the highest level if he is picked for the second Test with India, which begins on Thursday at Lord's.
"He obviously had a tough debut, but I have seen him bowling in the nets at Trent Bridge and he bowled brilliantly," the Yorkshire batsman told BBC Radio 5 live.
"It's different to being in the middle at Lord's, but he's confident and hard working and will learn from the experience he's had."
Kerrigan returned match figures of 0-53 from eight overs on his Test debut.
