Mahendra Dhoni applauds Monty Panesar impact

Mahendra Dhoni says that Monty Panesar made the difference during England's second Test victory over India.

India captain Mahendra Dhoni has hailed the impact on Monty Panesar after England beat India to win the second Test.

Having been left out of the first Test defeat in Ahmedabad, Panesar took a combined 11 wickets from both innings as England secured a 10-wicket victory in Mumbai.

Despite Kevin Pietersen winning the man of the match award, Dhoni believes that it was Panesar who made the difference.

"For most part of the game we were outplayed," said Dhoni.

"Monty [Panesar] bowled really well, the pace at which he was bowling made it really uncomfortable. He was the major difference.

"Our spinners could have tried to bring their batsmen on to the front foot a little more. A target of 200 would have been decent, whether we would have won with that, we will never know."

The third Test takes place in Kolkata on December 5.
