Kevin Pietersen has insisted that he is not bothered at being overlooked by Surrey for their upcoming LV= County Championship squad.
It was revealed this morning that ex-England batsman Pietersen was not to be called up by the county for their final Division Two matches.
However, Pietersen is certain that he would have only been summoned if the county had a "realistic" opportunity to be promoted to Division One.
"I was only going to play for @surreycricket if we had a realistic chance of gaining promotion. Now that's gone, I'm not playing. More [golf]," Pietersen wrote on Twitter.
"It was @surreycricket's decision as it would be a great opportunity for the youngsters to get some more First Class experience...
"@StewieCricket was keen to give the young guys experience & I respect his decision. We have serious talent, which has the chance to flourish."
Surrey are currently third in Division Two and only have an outside chance of earning promotion.
