Team England cyclist Hayley Simmonds has collected a bronze medal in the women's individual road race time trial at the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.
Earlier today Harry Tanfield managed silver for England in the men's version of the event, and now Simmonds has followed that up with bronze, having run the course in a time of 36:22.09.
The course was 13km shorter than the men's, coming in at a distance of 25.5km, and included an 800m steep section known as "the beast" en route to the finish line.
Home favourite Katrin Garfoot took the gold medal, an upgrade from her bronze at the Glasgow Games four years ago, with a time of 35:08.09.
The defending champion - New Zealand's Linda Villumsen - was forced to settle for silver, finishing 54.92 seconds behind Garfoot, while Scotland's Katie Archibald - Olympic gold medallist for Team GB in Rio de Janeiro two years ago - was fourth, finishing 45 seconds behind Simmonds.
Earlier today Team England confirmed that Melissa Lowther was unable to compete in the event due to "an administrative error" which meant that she was not formally entered as a competitor.
