Alberto Contador has confirmed that he plans to appeal his two-year Court of Arbitration for Sport ban for failing a drugs test.
The former Tour de France winner tested positive for traces of clenbuterol during the final stages of the 2010 race, which he went on to win.
However, the Spaniard has repeatedly stated his innocence and has insisted that he will continue to cycle amid rumours he would quit the sport following the verdict.
"With the sentence in my hand the sensation I still feel is that I am innocent," said Contador.
"My lawyers are examining the possibilities and as I have said before, we have to fight to the end.
"I will continue in cycling. I will continue to do so in a clean way as I have all my life and I know that will make me stronger in the future."
Contador has been stripped of his 2010 Tour victory and will miss this year's event along with the Olympics.
