Details of the opening stage of this year's Tour of Britain have been announced, with Liverpool set to host the Grand Depart on Sunday September 7.
The opening stage of the UK's largest cycle race will take place along the city's waterfront.
It will be the first time Liverpool has hosted the opening stage of the event, which finished in the city in 2006 and 2008.
"The route for the opening stage is going to be spectacular and iconic, whether people are watching at the roadside or at home on the live television coverage," race director Mick Bennett told reporters.
Last year's race, which ended in London, was won by Sir Bradley Wiggins.
