Jolanda Neff has said that becoming the first ever gold medallist at the European Games feels "amazing".
The Switzerland cyclist claimed victory in the women's mountain bike event in Baku this morning, with compatriot Kathrin Stirnemann joining her on the podium in second place.
The 22-year-old told reporters: "It is an amazing event here at the first European Games and to win the first gold medal feels amazing.
"The course was very windy. We stayed together in a group of eight for the first three laps and then I attacked and made the gap bigger and bigger.
"It's really cool that my teammate Kathrin Stirnemann from Switzerland took silver and my very good mate from Poland Maja Wloszczowska took the bronze medal."
Neff is a three-time Under-23 world champion.
