Michael van Gerwen has revealed that he considers the World Series of Darts Finals as a "massive target" as he looks to continue his recent form ahead of the PDC World Championship.
Last week, Van Gerwen won the Grand Slam of Darts to complete the set of PDC Majors, but the Dutchman has acknowledged that it would be "special" if he can win the first staging of this weekend's event in Scotland.
The 26-year-old told PDC.TV: "It's been an amazing time for me and I'm playing some great darts at the moment, and it would be special if I can continue that this weekend.
"I always try to win every tournament but this is the first World Series of Darts Finals and it's a massive target for me to win.
"The World Series has been fantastic and we've had five great events around the world - but I'd love to be the one to be the final champion this year."
Van Gerwen will play either Devon Petersen or Robert Thornton in his first match on Saturday night.
