British pairing Tom Daley and Peter Waterfield fail to claim a medal from the 10m synchronised diving at the London Olympics.

British duo Tom Daley and Peter Waterfield failed to win a medal during the men's synchronised 10m platform at their home Olympic Games in London this afternoon.

The event started brightly for the pairing, who led favourites China at the halfway stage with three jumps performed.

However, a reverse three-and-half somersault during round four was out poorly executed, which the judges only scored at 71.28. As a result, Daley and Waterfield dropped to fourth in the standings, where they remained for the rest of the contest.

Chinese duo Cao Yuan and Zhang Yanquan overcame a slow start to live up their tag as pre-dive favourites. They eventually claimed the gold medal with a score of 486.78 overall.

Sanchez and Garcia Navarro of Mexico earned a surprise silver thanks to a combined score of 468.90, while the American pair of Nicholas McCrory and David Boudia took third with 463.47.

Daley and Waterfield, a place further behind, ended with 454.65.
