AC Milan striker Antonio Cassano will undergo surgery, the Italian champions confirmed this afternoon.
The 29-year-old has been in hospital ever since falling ill after the Rossoneri's 3-2 victory at AS Roma on Saturday evening.
A statement from the club yesterday denied that he had suffered a stroke, while they also insisted that his condition was improving.
The surgery is expected to keep the Italian international out of action for at least four months.
News of Cassano's upcoming operation has come just hours after Tottenham Hotspur revealed that manager Harry Redknapp will have minor heart surgery today.
