Paris Saint-Germain confirmed the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the Parc des Princes on a three-year contract this afternoon.
While the French club now have one of the world's best-known strikers at their disposal, it has left AC Milan with a void to fill before the new Serie A season gets underway.
A number of centre-forwards have already been linked with a switch to the San Siro, including a host of Premier League players.
With that in mind, Sports Mole has drawn up a list of contenders to replace Ibrahimovic at the Rossoneri.
Edin Dzeko
The Manchester City's representative claimed earlier today that his client had been in discussions with Milan over the past few days. While the majority of words from a football agent are normally taken with a pinch of salt, the Bosnian striker would provide Milan with the physical presence that they now lack following Ibrahimovic's departure. Dzeko may also be available for a reasonable price if Robin van Persie was to swap Arsenal for City over the coming weeks.
Carlos Tevez
Milan have given the impression in recent months that Tevez is their number one target. The Italians tried to sign the pint-sized Argentine during the January transfer window on loan. However, City were only willing to part with the 28-year-old on a permanent basis. Also, having now played himself back into favour at the Etihad Stadium, City may well be reluctant to let Tevez go altogether. Like Dzeko, a lot may depend upon Van Persie's destination.
Gonzalo Higuain
Real Madrid are believed to be eager to keep hold of their Argentine international. Higuain himself is also said to be content with life at the Bernabeu. However, last season Higuain found himself on the bench for Madrid's bigger matches, with Karim Benzema preferred in attack by coach Jose Mourinho. Milan would be able to offer 24-year-old guaranteed starting action.
Dimitar Berbatov
Another Manchester-based player has recently been linked with a switch to the Red and Blacks. However, on this occasion it is a Manchester United frontman, namely Berbatov. The Bulgarian recently expressed his desire to leave the Red Devils, having fallen well down the pecking order at Old Trafford. His playing style is similar to Ibrahimovic's, which could make his arrival at the San Siro a logical one.
Robin van Persie
Most other clubs are being linked with Van Persie, so why not Milan? The Dutch international has made it clear that he will not be extending his current Arsenal contract, which has just 12 months left to run. While Man City are considered to be the favourites to sign the 28-year-old, a move to Italy is thought to be under consideration. Serie A champions Juventus are also said to be interested.
Sports Mole's verdict: Berbatov - A decision based purely upon playing style. The former Bulgarian international may not be as prolific as Ibrahimovic, but his touch and composure are almost identical. His reported price tag of £5m may also appeal, leaving the club with plenty of funds to strengthen in other areas.
