Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has jumped to the defence of Jack Wilshere following Roy Keane's claim that he is the "most overrated player in the world".
Keane's comments came after watching Wilshere captain Arsenal to a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Swedish minnows Ostersunds FK in the Europa League on Thursday night, although the Gunners did still qualify for the last 16 on aggregate.
Wenger acknowledged that Wilshere was one of a number of players who underperformed on the night, but insists that he still has a very high opinion of the England international.
"I personally rate Jack very highly, after that you can have opinions," Wenger is quoted as saying by The Mirror.
"Jack was in a team last night that didn't perform well. Was it one of his best performances last night? Certainly not."
Arsenal's next match sees them face Manchester City in the EFL Cup final at Wembley on Sunday.
