Arsenal have reportedly determined that Jack Wilshere requires surgery on a hairline fracture in his left leg that could rule him out for several more weeks.
The England international is yet to play for the Gunners this season after sustaining the injury in pre-season.
It was reported that Wilshere might make his return against Stoke City last Saturday, but Arsene Wenger confirmed in his pre-match press conference that the 23-year-old had suffered a setback.
According to PA, further medical examinations have taken place and Arsenal have been told that surgery is needed to properly correct the problem.
Wilshere has struggled with various injury woes in recent years, making just 48 Premier League starts in the last four seasons.
