George Graham: 'Diego Costa will rightly be targeted by referees'

Former Arsenal manager George Graham believes that Chelsea striker Diego Costa is going to be "targeted" by referees following the Blues' 1-0 win over the Gunners.

Former Arsenal boss George Graham has claimed that Chelsea's Diego Costa is going to be "targeted" by referees following his role in a number of incidents during his side's 2-0 Premier League win over the Gunners.

The Spanish international was involved in a scuffle with Gabriel Paulista after the forward had pushed Laurent Koscielny to the ground.

The incident led to Paulista getting sent off for retaliation while Costa only received a yellow card.

Graham, who managed Arsenal between 1986 and 1995, told BBC Sport: "I think [Costa] is going to be a targeted man now by the officials and probably rightly so.

"[Didier] Drogba was the main [Chelsea] man for nearly 10 years and he was very, very physical but he didn't take it to the extremes that Costa has taken it to.

"Although you've got to keep that physical intensity, once you step over the mark he's got to be dealt with by officials, it's as simple as that - and I think he will be."

Costa has scored two goals for Chelsea so far this season.
