Gervinho has defended Arsene Wenger following the Gunners' poor start to the season.

The Frenchman was forced to sell both Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri this summer, before making a string of last-minute signings in the final hours of the transfer window after the club's 8-2 loss to Manchester United.

However, the Gunners signing has told critics not to forget what the Arsenal boss has achieved.

"It's Arsene's job to choose his players and I believe in his vision," The Sun quotes him as saying. "Whatever player Arsene picks to play for Arsenal, I respect that and so should the fans.

"People should remember Arsene is the one who has brought the club to its current level, he's the one who has helped make its great history.

"Of course, I'd have been happy to have played alongside Cesc and Samir because they are both world-class players. But, unfortunately, they have moved on in their careers just like I have with my move from Lille to Arsenal."

Gervinho has made just one league appearance for the Gunners so far, after he was red-carded in Arsenal's 0-0 draw with Newcastle.
