Laurent Koscielny tells Arsenal: 'Beat Chelsea for Arsene Wenger'

Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny hopes that the Gunners beat Chelsea to end Arsene Wenger's 12-game winless run against Jose Mourinho.

Laurent Koscielny has told his Arsenal teammates to beat Chelsea and end manager Arsene Wenger's barren run against opposite number Jose Mourinho.

The two coaches renew hostilities at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday as the Blues travel to the north of the capital aiming to pick up one of the two wins needed to clinch the Premier League title.

Much has been made over the fact that Wenger has never beaten Mourinho in a head-to-head meeting, losing seven and drawing five, and Koscielny hopes to help bring an end to that hoodoo.

The pair have engaged in some pre-match verbal jousting following an inhospitable history between the duo, but the French defender says that those jibes go out the window as soon as a ball is kicked.

"It's true that Jose Mourinho likes the psychological game but that works just for a time, because it is on the pitch where things happen" he told the Daily Mail.

"It's been complicated for the boss and I hope, just for once, he will win against Mourinho. It's up to us to produce our game, which is to be strong with our high pressing on the pitch."

Victory for the Gunners would represent their 10th successive win in all competitions.
