Graeme Souness: 'Arsenal have to strengthen'

Former Liverpool captain Graeme Souness believes that Arsenal need to bring in up to three new players at the end of the season.

Former Liverpool captain Graeme Souness has claimed that Arsenal should sign "two or three" new players this summer in order to boost their Premier League title chances.

Following a 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Sunday, Arsene Wenger's side could finish as high as second place in the table this term.

However, Souness believes that the Gunners need to strengthen if they want to give themselves a better chance of being crowned champions of England next time around.

"Forget spine, forget any names. If you're a big football club and you're not strengthening, you're standing still as all the other big teams will be strengthening. That's a dangerous game," he told Sky Sports News.

"Arsenal's group of players have certainly got better from the first part of the season until now. Can they add two or three better players in some positions? Certainly. If you asked 100 Arsenal supporters, then the answer would be unequivocal, it would be 'yes'."

Arsenal return to Premier League action on Wednesday when Sunderland make the trip to the Emirates Stadium.
