Thomas Vermaelen claims that Robin van Persie has become a more complete forward in 2011.

Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen has said that Robin van Persie has become a more complete striker in 2011.

The Dutchman, who has scored 15 goals in all competitions this season, needs four more in the Premier League to break Alan Shearer's record of 36 league goals scored in the span of 12 months.

"I knew before that he was a quality, world-class player and that technically he was really good," he told the club's official website. "It's amazing if you play with him, even in training.

"He's scoring goals now and his game is more complete. He's fit, playing every game and for the team that's really important. Personally I'm really happy to be playing with him every game."

Van Persie will look to go a step closer to breaking Shearer's record against the Citizens this afternoon.
