Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has labelled in-form playmaker Mesut Ozil as an "absolutely unbelievable player" ahead of Monday night's Premier League showdown against Manchester City.
German international Ozil has provided 13 assists in 15 Premier League games this season, five more than anyone else in the top flight.
His form has helped the Gunners to stay within touching distance of surprise league leaders Leicester City with several key players, including Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere, currently out injured.
"Ozil is the main provider in the team and the league, 13 assists," Wenger told reporters. "Players who can make you score are very difficult to find and have something special.
"But people forget that he is an exceptional fighter as he runs much more and has added runs into the box now. He has become an absolutely unbelievable player."
Wenger also suggested that Arsenal would be "open" to signing players in January due to their lengthy injury list.
"We are open-minded and not the only ones that can decide on the speed of transfers," Wenger added. "We have to adapt to availabilities but we are open to do something because we are short."
Arsenal are reportedly planning to offer Ozil a record contract to convince him to remain at the Emirates and ward off potential suitors.
