Arsene Wenger praises "sharp" display from Olivier Giroud

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says that Olivier Giroud had his 'best game for a while' in the 2-2 draw with Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has praised the performance of Olivier Giroud after the Gunners earned a 2-2 draw away at Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

Giroud had not found the back of the net in the Premier League since the middle of January before he headed in Arsenal's first equaliser in a high-quality clash at the Etihad Stadium.

The forward has come in for criticism from the club's supporters in recent weeks but Wenger feels that Giroud was back to his best as Arsenal closed the gap on second-placed Tottenham Hotspur to two points.

The Frenchman told Sky Sports News: "He had a great game, his best for a while. He was sharp and focused, we have seen the real Olivier Giroud.

"He has not had that sharpness for the last few games but strikers go through up and downs and you never know when they will score or not."

The 29-year-old has scored 20 times in all competitions this season.
