Jack Wilshere says that he is recovering well after undergoing ankle surgery six weeks ago.

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has revealed that he is to step up his rehabilitation from injury after an X-ray showed he is recovering well from ankle surgery.

The 19-year-old has missed the Gunners' entire campaign after going under the knife six weeks ago.

Wilshere was also absent from the England team as they secured qualification to the European Championships this summer.

He tweeted: "As I said had 6 week X-ray earlier and all going well. I can start to work a bit harder now."

The England international made his Arsenal debut in 2008 and, after a loan spell at Bolton Wanderers, has established himself as a key figure in Arsene Wenger's side.
