Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger hands a start to forward Danny Welbeck for Thursday's Premier League clash with Manchester City.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has handed a start to forward Danny Welbeck for Thursday's Premier League clash with Manchester City.

Welbeck has not scored a league goal for Arsenal since September, but the attacker comes into the team as a replacement for Jack Wilshere, who does not feature in the 18-man squad.

Wenger makes three other changes, with Sead Kolasinac replacing the injured Nacho Monreal and Henrikh Mkhitaryan taking the spot of Calum Chambers, with Aaron Ramsey dropping back into central midfield.

Goalkeeper Petr Cech is also back between the sticks, with David Ospina only named as a substitute.

As for City, Pep Guardiola opts to make just the two alterations to the team which began Sunday's 3-0 victory over Arsenal in the EFL Cup final.

As expected, Ederson replaces Claudio Bravo in goal, while Bernardo Silva comes in for the injured Fernandinho in midfield.

Winger Raheem Sterling again misses out on a place in the squad as he continues his recovery from a muscular problem.

Arsenal: Cech; Bellerin, Mustafi, Koscielny, Kolasinac; Xhaka, Ramsey; Ozil, Mkhitaryan, Welbeck; Aubameyang
Subs: Ospina, Holding, Iwobi, Chambers, Maitland-Niles, Elneny, Nketiah

Manchester City: Ederson; Walker, Danilo, Kompany, Otamendi; Gundogan, De Bruyne, Silva, Bernardo, Sane; Aguero
Subs: Bravo, Stones, Laporte, Jesus, Zinchenko, Toure, Foden
