A report claims that Arsenal are tempted to make a third approach for Alexis Claude-Maurice after having an improved £14m bid knocked back.

Arsenal have reportedly fallen short with their second offer for Lorient forward Alexis Claude-Maurice.

The 21-year-old scored 14 goals and chipped in with four assists in 16 Ligue 2 appearances last season.

With only around £40m to spend on new signings this summer, Unai Emery is rumoured to have made a move for Claude-Maurice earlier this month.

Lorient rejected that £6.1m bid and, according to Get French Football News, Arsenal have now been unsuccessful with their second approach.

The report claims that the Gunners' improved offer was in the region of £14m.

Despite again being knocked back, it is suggested that the North London outfit are not yet prepared to give up on Claude-Maurice.
