Arsenal have reportedly taken pole position to sign Roma defender Alessio Romagnoli.
It was thought that the 20-year-old was on the verge of joining AC Milan after the San Siro outfit made a second bid in the region of £14.3m to their Serie A rivals.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is said to be an admirer of Romagnoli, who spent last season on loan at Sampdoria.
According to talkSPORT, negotiations between Roma and Milan have stalled, which could allow the Gunners to make a move.
Roma are said to be holding out for at least £25m for the Italy Under-21 international, who made 31 appearances for Sampdoria last term.
