Arsenal 'trying to raise cash for Atletico Madrid's Thomas Partey'

Arsenal reportedly identify three players they would be open to selling as the Gunners look to fund a move for Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey.

Arsenal have reportedly identified three players they would be open to selling as the Gunners look to fund a move for Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey.

The Ghana international is supposedly edging towards a move to the Emirates ahead of next season, with the Gunners having identified Partey as a priority target.

However, Mikel Arteta's side are expected to be working with a severely-restricted budget given the financial implications of the coronavirus pandemic, and Arsenal would likely have to sell in order to buy in the summer market.

According to the Daily Mail, one of Matteo Guendouzi, Lucas Torreira or Alexandre Lacazette could be shipped out by the Gunners as they endeavour to meet Partey's £43m release clause.

The report claims that Partey is keen on a move to North London and there is optimism from both sides that a deal can be reached, although Arsenal are rumoured to be facing losses of up to £144m in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Partey has turned out 42 times across all competitions for Atletico this term, scoring three goals and creating one more.
