Barcelona have reportedly made an approach to sign Sassuolo midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng.
Arsenal are keen to secure a loan deal for Denis Suarez before the end of January, and that has resulted in Barcelona entering the market to try to find a replacement.
According to The Mirror, the Catalan giants are in talks over a surprise move for Boateng and a transfer is likely to materialise in the coming days.
The report claims that Boateng will move to Camp Nou on a temporary basis with Barcelona possessing the option to complete a permanent deal for £7m at the end of the campaign.
Boateng - formerly of Tottenham Hotspur and Portsmouth - has contributed four goals and one assist in 13 Serie A outings this season.
The 31-year-old scored 10 times from 29 appearances for Spanish side Las Palmas during the 2016-17 campaign.
