Manchester City are reportedly refusing to admit defeat in their attempts to sign Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez this summer.
Sanchez will see his current deal expire next summer, and it is widely thought that the Chile international is refusing to pen a fresh contract with the Gunners.
Earlier this month, it was claimed that Sanchez would be prepared to see out his current deal at the Emirates Stadium before leaving on a free transfer at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.
However, according to Manchester Evening News, City are still confident of striking a deal for the South American before the August deadline, with the Citizens prepared to make the 28-year-old the highest-paid player in their history on £400,000 a week.
The former Barcelona attacker, who scored 30 times in 51 appearances last season, watched from the stands as Arsenal beat Leicester City 4-3 in their Premier League opener on Friday night.
