Jack Wilshere hopes that Theo Walcott will sign a new contract with Arsenal and commit his future to the London club.

Jack Wilshere has said he is hopeful that his Arsenal teammate Theo Walcott will remain with the club beyond next summer.

The 23-year-old forward's current contract with the Gunners runs out at the end of the season and an agreement over a new deal has yet to be reached.

"I've been working all year on him," Wilshere told Sky Sports News. "But that's between Theo, his representatives and the boss (Arsene Wenger) but hopefully we can sign him up.

"He showed he can do it up front and hopefully he can play there in the future."

Walcott was on target in Arsenal's 5-2 away win against Reading in the Premier League on Monday.
