Ricardo Carvalho feels that he has more than a year left in him.

AS Monaco centre-back Ricardo Carvalho has admitted that he wants to play for the club beyond the year's contract he signed.

Carvalho joined Monaco at the end of May after the expiry of his Real Madrid contract, and the Portuguese said that he still wants to prove himself at the highest level.

"Will it be my last season? I don't think so, even if I only signed for one season with one addition year in option," Sky Sports News quotes Carvalho as saying.

"I am not done, otherwise I would have accepted offers from clubs from Gulf or Dubai, where there is no pressure. I was fit last season, but I was on the bench. I had opportunities to leave but I thought I could play and help the team.

"Did I regret to have stayed? It was my decision. I stayed for several reasons, notably for my family and above all I was convinced I would play more often."

Monaco won the French Ligue 2 last season.
